while i was in austin, i mostly meandered around just looking at things. i spent my nights at walmart and my days at barnes & noble, driving around, camera shopping, getting lost. a number of you people think austin is great. i can't disagree. : )
downtown
one evening i went a few miles outside of town to The Salt Lick which was recommended by a friend of mine.
even though i've been doing my best to find free experiences, i figured i'd spoil myself this time to enjoy good meat and bbq sauce. i'm glad i did. it wasn't nearly as expensive as i was expecting, it was great for people watching, and there was live music outside. the place was crawling with people, which at first made me skeptical, but before long it actually gave me a feeling more like that of being at a fest.
in the restaurant
the tables were made of thick wood with warn off/embedded paint, and the seats were benches.
my meal
outside
i hung around for a while enjoying the atmosphere of the outdoor music and people chillin'.
before leaving austin, i also went to the austin stone community church, which was pretty great. and i swiped my credit card at a best buy to get a decent point-and-shoot camera. yay! now it will be easier to take photos to share what i'm seeing as i journey.
hm, let see if this new camera works.... yes!!
