joshua tree national park

joshua tree is a place i've been to before, and that's precisely why i wanted to go again.  i'm particularly intrigued by joshua trees.  not sure why, but i am.

i got to the park late at night.  originally i was going to park my van outside of the park to sleep in it, but then decided to fork out the money to stay in the black rock campground.   i figured i would finally use one of my tents.  i set up my cool two-person tent in the bright moonlight.  to be honest, sleeping in my van would have been more convenient and probably warmer too.  had the temperature been warmer, i could have enjoyed it a lot more, but at least i can now say i camped in joshua tree.   i marked this first time ever camping by myself by standing on my head!  weird : )  notice how i was trying to imitate a joshua tree.

i woke up to 29 degree clear weather.  my indoor/outdoor thermometer indicated 38 degrees inside the tent.  needless to say, it was tough getting myself out of my sleeping bag so i could wrap up camp and go explore.  here's a little bit of what i saw in the park...
