i really had an extremely delightful time with dave and liz and their cat naomi. we had good food, recalled fun memories, had good discussions, and laughed at each other's silliness. we watched serenity and walle on dvd (my first time for both), went to their church, and also hung out at some of phoenix's sites.
they brought me to 'hole in the rock,' promising that it would be more enjoyable than its basic, unflattering name suggests. indeed it's a rock with a hole in it, but once you've stepped up along a short path and ducked your head as you enter through the hole, you find yourself on a naturally elevated rocky viewing deck with a beautiful view of the city. we got there at a time when the colorful sunset made for a lovely city backdrop, accompanying the distant rocky hills.
we also went to south mountain, another plainly named but great place to view the city. dave captured this photo of me.
more importantly, south mountain is where dave proposed to liz. awwwww. what a cute couple they make. : )
some states have lots of tree huggers, but here you find cactus huggers. ouch! below is dave, then me respectively. hey we both have green shirts!

i saw a bunch of trees that have photosynthesizing green branches. they are palo verde, arizona's state tree.
naomi is so lovable. she loves people, loves fetching her toys (seriously), loves rolling on clothes, loves licking/exfoliating noses. she's so adorable.

it was truly an enjoyable weekend reconnecting with dave and getting to know liz. hopefully we can meet up again before too long. thanks for the warm hospitality guys!
