valley of fire park is spectacular!!! this one was recommended by mo's sister shauna. the colors were magnified at dusk. my pass doesn't cover state parks, but this was well worth the cost. i even decided to pay the camping fee and stay over night.
after driving around as the setting sun bled red and orange on the rocks and clouds, i found a camping spot and ate some dinner. my appetite was huge because for about four hours i had been enjoying the crock pot aromas of bacon wrapped steaks in bbg sauce that i prepared when at the walmart. my family gave me a mini crock pot for christmas so i could use it in my van. it worked! i just need to plan ahead to buy food and get it started at the beginning of a multi-hour drive and i'll have a delicious meal ready at my destination. along with the steak, i had bread with butter, chips and salsa, tea, and a poptart for dessert.
