zabrinski point - death valley

my first viewpoint stop in death valley was at zabrinski point.

when i returned to my van, some people (allen, violet and mother) from new york who were parked behind me were experiencing trouble with their rental car. rental car troubles were still fresh in my mind from the san francisco fiasco. assuming it was just a weakened battery, I tried to help them by jump starting their car. they were happy that i was trying to help. the jumping didn't seem to work at first. then some other people, also randomly from new york, helped us trouble shoot the problem, without success. but then somehow the car was able to be started once I removed the jumper cables.

since there is no cell phone reception anywhere in that huge national park, the other new yorkers suggested they leave the rental car running even when stopped until they were at a more convenient place to get help if they broke down again. violet asked me how they could lock their car while leaving it running. it required separating the key from the remote, which were bound by heavy duty wires. Allen seemed happily astonished when I said I have a wire cutting tool in my car too. after all of that adventure together, it felt appropriate to take a photo. hopefully they didn't have any more problems after that.

take care my friends!
