dante's view - death valley

i got up dark and cold early to watch a great sunrise. i drove up to the dante's view parking lot and made some coffee while watching the early twilight beauty.

if a picture is worth a thousand words, then a glance is worth a thousand pictures and each facet of these mountains is worth a thousand glances.

lots of times i think about how it would be great to do this exploring WITH someone. i think this often when trying to capture it with a photo and realize it's nowhere close to sharing what i'm experiencing or actually looking at while standing in the middle of all of it.

there are lots of steep grades, and i'm happy to say that my van has been cooperating very well with everything i'm putting it through.  isn't a 15% grade a complete failure?
