idaho springs

my friend, sea sent me information on a number of idaho springs.  i decided to squeeze in time for one of them.  i backtracked a little bit north toward the center of idaho

and then entered the payette national park, passing a "road closed" sign (hmmmm).

i went deep into the woods, up "no business" road (none of my business i guess),  and passed through areas with trees that were downed but cut through wide enough for a vehicle to pass.

eventually i found the hot spring i was looking for.  when i got there i was approached by a dog, who name was mohammed, and his owner who lived in a trailer at the springs.  the guy had the classic live-in-the-woods look and carried on a short and friendly conversation with me of which the content was mostly him bickering about unruly kids who visit the springs and trash the bathhouses which he voluntarily tended all season.

there were two bathhouses which each had two pipes - one from the hot spring and one from a cold spring to control the temperature.  unfortunately the bath houses were not very cozy.  basically they were like run down outhouses with a concrete basin inside.  and kind of gross.  so i was sadly disappointed and just decided to leave even though it was almost sunset and i didn't know where i would stop for the night.  oh well, it was worth the try.
