i managed to avoid the interstates as i cut southeast through eastern new york and western massachusetts.  i saw a bunch of cute little towns and sigh-of-ease rolling highways through forests and hill farm country.

i bounced along the southern coastline of massachusetts - the beach is what i wanted to find.

i only stuck around for a few minutes, then kept on moving.  there was lots more to see!
