driving nova scotia

since leaving philadelphia i had been averaging about 250 miles per day.  that pace continued.  it's a good thing i enjoyed the driving itself, because i was spending much more time glancing at scenes while driving than stopping to gaze from one spot.  a good portion of my photos were taken at 50mph while going around a curve and simultaneously opening the window, grabbing the camera with one hand and blindly pointing it toward the intended object, all within seconds and often with decent results.

most of the roads around the perimeter of the province were in very poor condition and had speeds of about 30mph through the little towns and 50mph between them.  much of the time i was actually paying attention to navigating the road's cracks rather than to the surrounding scenery.   but i enjoyed that part of it too!

as for what i saw...   lot's of cute towns sprinkled among countless coves near the bay of fundy or on the south shore, each with their token little white church.  

the bay of fundy had that distinct orangey-brown silty muck that's exposed twice a day.  i thought it made for a beautiful and unique backdrop all along the coast.

the south shore had a similar share of towns set among the rolling hills but with rock and stone sea coasts and lakes, rivers, and the ocean that where very dark blue in color.
