nola - bacchus parade

the next day we had a greek lunch at a the babylon cafe.   so good!  i really enjoyed their hummus with warm homemade bread.  mmmm.

then after a relaxing afternoon, we went to the bacchus parade.

again there were crowds,

kids on ladders,

floats,

and plenty of beads.

one time during the evening, a guy pushed through the crowd to get over to me and put his hand out for me to shake as he stepped in front of me.  slightly bewildered, i instinctively kept my hands in my pockets and said 'um, i don't know you, sir.'  i was confused; it sounded like he was calling me "zeus."  with an "oh, ok"-type of gesture, he disappeared back into the crowd yelling "jesus!" ("hay-SOOS").   hmm, i guess since i have a beard, i must remind intoxicated people of jesus. : )

that guy returned once more right before we left the parade.  i supposed it was to honor "jesus" by putting some beads over my head and then walking away again.  uh, thanks?  : )

weighed down with our collection of beads, we then went to an ihop just for the fun of it.  nothin' like a late-night breakfast for dinner with a group of friends at ihop.  i got the cheesecake pancakes and asked for extra whip.  it was about what i expected - mediocre in delightfulness yet quite interesting in concept and fun none-the-less.

then back at the house, we had an impromptu work-on-your-laptop time with the olympics on the tv in the background.  that actually works out to be a nice method of transitioning out of socializing and into sleeping.
