i got to nashville late-ish and found a walmart parkinglot to sleep.
nash
a childhood friend of mine, michelle is living in nashville. she had some work to do during the day, but she gave some me hints on cafes to visit until she was available to hang out with me. so i went to fido.
fido doesn't look that big from the outside, but it was huge on the inside. it's set right in a college town, and was packed with college students. somehow i scored the sunny corner seat where i could watch people and traffic while working on my computer and soaking in some vitamin D, all at the same time.
late in the afternoon i met up with michelle and she brought me out to pick up some pad thai for dinner.
it was great to talk to someone who had grown up in the same area as i had. we got to share the many life lessons we've experienced so far and discussed what things we'd like to see in the future.
i found it humorous when i read the fortune in my fortune cookie which said, "place special emphasis on old friendship."
when i think about the past, sometimes it feels like it was just a dream. sometimes i wonder, 'did i really think about things the way i remember thinking about them!?' while not being able to change some of the uglier parts of the past, i'm certain that they can never quench my hopes for the future.
michelle and her housemate, mary anne let me sleep on their sofa. after talking to michelle some more in the morning and getting a quick bowl of cereal, i finally got on my way. though the visit was brief, i'm so glad we got to reconnect! : )
