and then turned west along the bottom of lake superior toward minnesota.
i wanted to get to duluth for the night. the drive was at least 6 hours total and took me into the dark and into a thunder storm. the rain was not too heavy, but it was very difficult to see the road. i pressed through but took it easy, partly to avoid hydroplaning.
when i got to duluth, i got a warm welcome from jaime and jeremy! it was really exciting to meet them because jaime is a cousin to jesse, my good philly friend. jaime prepared a hot meal for me and we all talked until it was late. they are among the most inspiring people i've met on my trip - living a simple yet profoundly purposeful life, humbly seeking to follow god's lead and joyfully sharing that experience with others.
in the morning i got to meet their three kids: jonah, javan and jainah. all "j"s just like my own family and relatives! : )
before leaving my new friends, i went for a walk to the river with jeremy jonah and javan. jeremy and i got to chat some more and the kids had a blast getting wet and making splashes with big rocks.
