i stopped for a moment near a park.
from there i could watch a lot of fighter jets and jumbo planes playing near the air force base.
i liked these trees which were all over.
this mural is familiar. the artists did a similar painting in my home town and it can be found in a bunch of other cities too.
i randomly followed a sign to a state park which brought me up and up a hill side, eventually to a parking lot with a high up view of the city.
lance's sister maia who is another second cousin to my dad lives in anchorage. i had a delivery for her of honey and blueberry jam from lance. maia sat me down at her kitchen island and heated some food for me as we talked about what it's like to live and travel in various parts of the states. i stayed the night and had a wonderful sleep. maia gave me a lot of good tips on what to look for as i continued driving around the state. somehow i didn't even get any pictures during my stay there. oh well... except i did get this shot of the outside of their house.
and this was a runway strip that was right across the street. cool.
