ferry ride

at 4:30am i was up and driving.

i had to make sure to get a spot on the ferry to ocracoke island which only runs four times a day and was an hour drive away and i didn't have a reservation.  it was a dark drive and sometimes foggy.  i love fog.

while i waited to board the ferry, i got to gaze over the water to watch the birth of a new day.

when we loaded, i got a front row spot!  : )  it was the first time i'd ever driven onto a ferry.  i really need to start keeping track of all of my 'firsts' on this trip!

most of the two hour ride i spent leaning on the rail staring out over the water while feeling the warmth of the sun and the cool of the breeze.   i was thinking about my trip past and future, being thankful for everything i could think of, and praying for people i love.

we got to ocracoke island.  yay!
