welcome to virginia. yay! crossing the border into virginia bumped the number of states i've visited on this trip to 32! that's two thirds of the 48 contiguous states in 5 months. it includes every state south of michigan except for ohio. it's not a Goal per se to get to every state, but if all goes well, it could happen by september... we'll see.
i had stayed in a walmart parkinglot in north carolina. north carolina and virginia share a dismal swamp area. i thought that was a cool name. after i crossed the border, i pulled off and found a little hiking/biking trail next to a canal at the edge of the great dismal swamp national wildlife refuge.
ok, time to use my bike again. i went for a little spin.
my ears got a little chilly, but otherwise it felt great to get the exercise.
watch out for bears.
and other animals... i had to look up nutria to figure out what that was. i wonder if they healthy for eating.
